This issue of Alcohol Research: Current Reviewsexamines how alcohol use affects various organs in the body. Articles explore the mechanisms involved in alcohol-related injury as well as potential therapies. The articles in this issue review the significant advances that have been made toward elucidating how alcohol affects organ systems and contributes to organ-related pathology, as well as exploring current gaps in our knowledge.

Sobre a UNIAD

A Unidade de Pesquisa em álcool e Drogas (UNIAD) foi fundada em 1994 pelo Prof. Dr. Ronaldo Laranjeira e John Dunn, recém-chegados da Inglaterra. A criação contou, na época, com o apoio do Departamento de Psiquiatria da UNIFESP. Inicialmente (1994-1996) funcionou dentro do Complexo Hospital São Paulo, com o objetivo de atender funcionários dependentes.
