Cannabis use and first-episode psychosis: relationship with manic and psychotic symptoms, and with age at presentation
There is growing evidence that cannabis use may increase the risk of developing schizophrenia (Murray et al. 2007; Manrique-Garcia et al. 2012), and that individuals with first-episode psychosis with a history of cannabis use have an earlier onset of psychotic symptoms and younger age at presentation to services (Gonzalez-Pinto et al. 2011; Large et al. 2011).
