Major depression (MD) is the commonest psychiatric disorder, estimated to affect as much as 120 million people worldwide (Hashimoto, 2011). Chief reasons for failure with antidepressant treatments are thought to include the lack of proper response, the considerable disabling adverse effects of ADs drugs, the length of psychiatric history, and the quality of patient –physician relation-ship (Keitner et al., 2006; Pampallona et al., 2004). While the need for developing more effective drugs is a consensus, alternative strat-
egies to improve the clinical response have been explored, especially in refractory cases.
